Visiting as an Individual

For Individual Retreats from 12th April to 17th May 21

Here are some of the measures we have taken to ensure that you have a comfortable and safe stay and to advise you of some changes to our services and facilities in order to comply with the Government's requirements to only offer self-contained accommodation from 12th April to 17th May 21:

Before and on arrival - We ask that you do not come to Ashburnham Place if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 and contact us to make alternative arrangements for your booking.

On Arrival - When you arrive you are welcome to come in to the main building to collect your key. Then to visit reception and the bookshop during your stay but the main building is closed for all other purposes.

Reception Times - Reception is open Monday to Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm, 2.00pm – 5.00pm Sunday 9.00am -  4.00pm. If you require assistance outside of these times please feel free to call the Duty Manager for assistance, using the phone on the Reception counter by ringing 236. Duty Managers work until 9pm, after which there is an overnight on-call staff member in case of emergency.

Accommodation– In order to offer self-contained accommodation we will be unable to service your room during your stay, but extra tea and coffee provisions and other items will be available for collection at breakfast time or by contacting reception.

Breakfast will be served from Patmos Lodge Meeting Room (from 8.30am to 9.30am) located in the courtyard where your bedroom is located. It is a packed breakfast to take away and will be served from the counter set up in the room. You are welcome to eat your breakfast in your bedroom or outside in the grounds.

The breakfast includes a croissant served with jam and butter or margarine, pain au raisin, Quaker ‘porridge to go’ Bar (an oat cereal/breakfast bar), a fruit yoghurt, a carton of orange juice or apple juice and a piece of fruit. You can select any or all of these items to be included in your breakfast. All items will be served in a paper bag so you can take them away. There will be a bin located outside the meeting room so you do not have to leave food wrappers in your bedroom.

Evening Meal (if included in your rate) will be served from the Orangery from 6.00pm to 6.45pm. It will be a hot meal of the day served from the counter in a takeaway box with a dessert of the day, a piece of fruit and a cold drink from the orangery tea-room selection. You are welcome to eat your meal outside of the Orangery or take it back to your bedroom. If you require a vegetarian option please notify us in advance.

and others. In line with the national Covid-19 measures we ask that you wear masks when in public indoor areas (except those exempt from wearing a mask) and please thoroughly wash your hands regularly. We thank you for your co-operation.

We have tried our best to put in place measures that allow us to welcome guests for a self-led prayer retreat in self-contained accommodation until the Government allow us to open fully and offer our regular service. We thank you for your patience with us at this time.

For over 50 years individuals have been coming to Ashburnham Place to find peace, rest and to encounter God.  There are many, many stories of those people having life changing experiences and going out to serve God across the world.  We pray that this continues to happen for the next 50 years and beyond. As a result we do all we can to ensure that we provide excellent hospitality for the ones and twos as well as the larger groups.

We host various events during the year that are designed to help individuals in their walk with Jesus. These include ACT led retreats, ACT events and breaks.  Individuals are also very welcome to come on their own retreats and make use of our facilities and connect with our community rhythms and prayer.

Our church weekend was the best we have had for years. The location, the facilities and the staff were outstanding. We can't wait to come back next year.
