Prayer Centre
Introduction
For nearly 40 years the stable buildings at Ashburnham Place have been a focus for people to gather and pray. Over the years this has taken different forms including a Cycle of Prayer in the 1970s, gatherings for prayer and individuals staying and using the facilities for personal retreats.
At this time the Trustees and the team of volunteers and permanent staff at Ashburnham Place are responding to a call from God to create a place of led continuous prayer.
The Challenge
We believe that we are on a journey, which began in May 2008, to create a centre for 24 hour prayer, 6 days a week. We started with led prayer for 36 hours per week, this has now risen to 72 hours. In addition to led prayer times the Prayer Room is always open and available for use by guests and the Ashburnham team.
The Programme
The pattern of prayer is varied in style and content; it includes times of led worship and prayer as well as praying through the Bible. We pray for East Sussex, the United Kingdom as well as the nations of the world, particularly the 20+ nations represented at Ashburnham Place. We also pray for issues including the news and global concerns such as the environment or poverty often responding to news as it is breaking.
The timetable is displayed on notice boards around Ashburnham Place. Also click here for April's schedule, please note there are sometimes unavoidable amendments to some hours.
We also have some special days of prayer focus such as Day of Prayer for the Muslim World - the third friday in the month.
The Team
Prayer sessions are led by Ashburnham Staff. Each Prayer session will include a core group of staff members who will have responsibility for that hour.
Guests
Guests, whether staying in Ashburnham Place as an individual, as part of a group or from the local area are very welcome to join us in the Prayer Room in the Prayer Centre.
Guests and visitors are also welcome to use the smaller prayer rooms, one or two may be reserved for groups coming to pray together but others are on a first come, first served basis.
We do not currently have facilities for prayer ministry or counselling for our guests.
