Prayer Centre
If you would like to come and use a prayer room during the day please telephone reception first on 01424 892244 to check that we are open. If you would like to pray through the night please telephone Louie on 01424 894239 to make a residential booking. A House of Prayer for East Sussex, the Nation and the Nations The Prayer Centre was the original vision of Rev. John Bickersteth, who inherited the Ashburnham Estate in the 1950's. With the help of other local leaders and volunteers, the Stable Block was transformed and rebuilt to become a House of Prayer for all Nations. The layout of the Prayer Centre is of the Cross and Shield, the cobbled stones represent all the Christians and their churches in East Sussex. The original vision was for the establishment of continuous 24 hour prayer. This has not been achieved but our aim is to continue to work towards this. The Prayer Centre vision focuses on: Establishing 24 hour prayer: There will soon be two rooms in the Prayer Centre designated for 24 hour prayer, they will be accessible to residents and day visitors. One room is like a small chapel, with information on national and international issues. The second is a creative room where people can paint/write in a creative, prayerful way. Praying for East Sussex: For many years we have had a burden to pray for East Sussex and every Friday between 4-5pm we pray for our County. We also have a designated area for East Sussex with maps, information and news. We regularly link up with other prayer leaders who have a burden for their County. Praying for the Nations: We have a burden for the world and the many overseas visitors, volunteers and staff at Ashburnham Place help to focus our Prayers for all Nations. Linking with other Houses of Prayer in the UK and abroad: We link up with other Houses of Prayer around the Nation and the World and we regularly pray for each other. We exchange information and Prayer requests, some of which are displayed in the Prayer Centre rooms. |
