Introduction to Biblical Theology (ACT140)

In this course the various approaches towards a biblical theology will be explored, along with the issues of unity and diversity in Scripture, and the way in which the New Testament writers employ the Old Testament. Here are some of the topics that the course addresses:

  • What Is Biblical Theology
  • Methods Used in Biblical Theology: Their Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Unity and Diversity of the Biblical Message
  • Relationship Between the Old and New Testaments
  • How the New Testament Writers Used the Old Testament
  • Biblical Interpretation: Issues
  • The Unfolding Drama – Sketching the Contours of the Biblical Story
  • The Themes of Biblical Theology

The course is designed as a taster for those thinking of embarking on theological training, or who simply desire a greater grasp of the Biblical Story. The sessions will include teaching, question times, and practical guidance. Notes will be provided.

Steve Wood holds an MA in Christian Theology and a BA(Hons) in Biblical Studies from Heythrop College (University of London), a specialist college in Theology and Philosophy. He is pastor/teacher at Living Word Community Church in Hailsham, East Sussex.
